Of particular note here’s: our 2022 “Migrations” speaker series kicks off on Jan 21st and will hold one monthly session for 6 months.
This series features presenters who will speak to their own varied experiences of migration between points A, B and beyond. These are not seminars designed to teach therapists how to work with migrants but will focus on the presenters’ understandings of social justice, therapeutic, trauma, and personal development processes involved in migration.
The series recognizes the migrant roots and stories in the history of Gestalt itself, but also how *in spite* of the migrant roots, most training institutes have traditionally been ROOTED. Therapists often have to pass through systems which have become settled and fixed places where the migration o people and knowledge has been limited and fraught with layers of exclusion, “outsiderness” and the need to “revalidate” or translate or re-certify both knowledge and the people who carry it. Each session will have a presentation and breakout discussion and process space followed by large group reflection/reaction/sharing.
Speakers include: Sophie Keeley, Eden Brown, Desiree Carlson, Kiangana Dialungana (Makaya Revell), Jelena Zeleskov Doric, Ewurasi Dei-Anang, Heather Keyes
Registration is open for this series and all of the Open Gestalt programs HERE.
