The Well Grounded Therapist

I hope this workshop/retreat will be of interest to you. Attached are details of the third Well Grounded Therapist workshop. Sadly, it wasn’t possible to offer this replenishing, retreat last year and so Miriam Taylor and I are especially delighted to offer it again in June 2021. We are also looking forward to meeting so close to mid-summer, hopefully enabling us to enjoy long daylight hours and warm evenings.

We are inclusive about the term ‘Therapist’ and include advocacy workers, counsellors,  organisational practitioners and other ‘therapeutic professions’ as well as psychotherapists in our concept of ‘therapist’. The workshop is especially relevant for professional self-care and for anyone who works with trauma in a range of different capacities. Please feel free to pass the information on to other colleagues and friends who may like to know about it. The article cited at the bottom of the flier explores how Miriam and I see the connecting of inner and outer landscapes as part of the process of self-care and why self-care is a vital aspect of  practice for anyone working with trauma. (If you don’t have access to the British Gestalt Journal and would like a copy, please get in touch with Vienna at [email protected])

This will be our third bi-annual retreat in the astoundingly beautiful and peaceful Wye Valley. There are plenty of delightful indoor and outdoor spaces at Poulstone Court. The food is wonderful, much grown in the gardens or sources locally.  The house has very large rooms and we will, in the spirit of the workshop, be spending as much time as possible outdoors in the various gardens, grounds and the wider landscape. Whilst we love coming to the Wye Valley please note that this may be our last residential  at this venue as we have plans to develop the concept of the Well Grounded Therapist and take it to new landscapes (both actual and virtual) in the future.

This year places will be limited to 10, to ensure that everyone can have a bedroom to themselves, if individual rooms are needed in June as part of social distancing. If single bedrooms are required as part of measures at  that time, Poulstone have agreed to waive their normal single room supplement and we will refund this to you. However, if you want to guarantee a bedroom to yourself please include the supplement of £24 with your booking.

We hope some UKAGP members will join us.
