Workshop on Shame
Saturday, Feb 22nd, 10-5
The Practice Rooms, EX4 3PT
This workshop will explore shame as an emotional physiological response.
We will examine with exercises:
What triggers feelings of shame.
Shame as a habitual response to a situation
The purposes that feelings of shame serve
The goal is to gain a deeper understanding of the breadth and impact of shame and how it can become chronic, manifested within the body, and become integrated into life as an emotion to avoid.
There will be opportunities for individual and group reflection on all aspects of shame, how it can become a learnt response, and how individuals can unlearn the response of feeling and protect against shame.
In the second part, we will examine recovery from shame. Feeling shame need not be an essential part of life. There will be space to explore how to live a confident life without resorting to feeling shame. Exercises and experiments will be included.
