Spring 2024: Dark and Light
Light and dark symbolizes many feelings and expectations which span over centuries in many cultures and religions as well as in philosophy. How are these phenomena experienced through your senses? What do you associate with – the light, the dark or somewhere in the middle?
I am sure the articles in this newsletter where others have shared their experiences and thoughts about light and dark will provoke some thoughts for you.
Spring 2023: What was, will be, and is
As we move from winter to spring, we (our editorial team) find ourselves reflecting on the liminal space between, the current moment where we are not quite in one season or the other. The end of winter, the death of friends, family and community members, the newness of spring as the flowers start to break through the soil’s surface, the hope of warm sun and brighter days, and the swampiness of the moment between.
Spring 2022: We are not alone - In War and Peace
The theme of the UKAGP conference this year is “We are not alone – Being with our differences, our commonalities”. One way of exploring our differences and our commonalities is through telling our stories. This weekend a new acquaintance told me that her mother was born in Germany in the late 1930s and grew up in Germany during the Second World War and its aftermath, surrounded by the fears engendered by war and by living under a dictatorship. This story evoked for me my grandmother’s experience of growing up in a different era, a different country, and different circumstances but similarly fearful of the judgements of others and betrayal by her neighbours. My friend and I have different histories, but we are aware that our present can be similarly haunted by a fear of judgement by the other. We are not alone.
